Melissa Yager
2017 cohort, University of San Diego

Melissa Yager, MS, RN, CNS, ONC, a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Future of Nursing Scholar, at Sharp Healthcare, is interested in studying the causes and prevention of delirium in patients following a hip fracture. As a clinical nurse specialist specializing in adult orthopedics, Yager hopes to improve the outcomes of this vulnerable patient population.

She earned her Associate Degree of Nursing from Grossmont College, her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix and her Masters of Science in Nursing/ Clinical Nurse Specialist from San Diego State University.

Yager has worked for Sharp Healthcare in San Diego in various nursing roles all within the specialty of orthopedics for 19 years, she has worked in her current role as clinical nurse specialist since 2012. Yager also serves as an Executive Director for the National Association of Orhtopaedic Nurses and as associate faculty at Miracosta College.
