Mary Ann Podlogar

Mary Ann Podlogar, BSN, MA.Ed, is pursuing a career in research at Case Western Reserve University as a Robert Wood Johnson Future of Nursing Scholar. Her current research interests are focused on exploring the relationship between cognitive impairment and health service use in the heart failure population.

Mary Ann holds a Bachelor of Art in Psychology from Cleveland State University, a Master of Art in Education and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, both from Ursuline College.

Before pursing a PhD in nursing, Mary Ann worked for several years as a high-school special education teacher in northern Idaho. Since the completion of her BSN, Mary Ann has worked as a registered nurse for University Hospitals, serving on a heart failure intensive care unit. Additionally, Podlogar serves as a cardiac rehabilitation instructor, and is a member of several research teams at Case Western. She hopes to integrate her experiences as an educator and a nurse to positively impact health outcomes for heart failure patients living with cognitive impairments.

Mary Ann currently lives in Cleveland, Ohio.
