John Sweetko

John Sweetko, MSN, RN, CPEN, CNE is interested in finding ways to apply theories like social-cognitive theory and resourcefulness theory to parents and caregivers of children with chronic illnesses in order to help them better provide care at home and be better able to cope with the stress associated with caring for a chronically ill child.

He earned his BA in history from Youngstown State University, his BSN from Walsh University and his MSN in nursing education from Duquesne University.

John Sweetko has been a staff nurse at Akron Children’s Hospital, Mahoning Valley since 2013. He started his career in the Float Department where he worked primarily in the NICU and a general care pediatric floor. He moved to his current position in the Emergency Department in 2015. He has also worked as a clinical instructor for Franciscan University of Steubenville.

Sweetko lives in Poland, Oh.
