Caroline McDermott

Caroline McDermott, BSN, MSN, RN, a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Future of Nursing Scholar, is interested in gerontology, specifically the culture of aging and facets that make up an older adult’s journey through the continuum of care. In particular, McDermott is interested in combating ageism to work towards more age-friendly health systems and communities and hopes to contribute to this field throughout her PhD program.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Duquesne University and her Master of Science in Nursing from the Pennsylvania State University.

McDermott currently works at the Village at Penn State providing long-term care per diem as she engages in her doctoral program. She graduated in 2014 with her BSN and worked in the Medical Respiratory Intensive Care Unit at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System prior to pursuing her PhD.

McDermott lives in State College, PA.
