Wanda Montalvo, PhD, MSN, RN, ANP

Wanda Montalvo is an innovative executive nurse leader and is the Associate Director at the Weitzman Institute, the first community-based research center established by Community Health Center, Inc. Her leadership at the state and national level include clinical director for the New York State Diabetes Campaign, chief programs officer for the Community Health Care Association of New York State, and Northeast Director for National Health Disparities Collaborative sponsored by the Department of Health and Human Services' Bureau of Primary Health Care. Her work to reduce disparity in pediatric asthma and childhood obesity led to two U.S. Surgeon General Awards: C. Everett Koop National Health Award and Healthy Youth for Healthy Future. Montalvo has served on several national committees: Partners Investing in Nursing’s Future, Chaired the Operating Committee of the CDC/NIH National Diabetes Education Program, and most recently the RWJF Future of Nursing Scholars program. She earned her PhD from the Columbia University School of Nursing and her BSN and MSN from Long Island University School of Nursing.
